eero Built-in

Featured on Wired and Fast Company.

Overview

Led the UX design on the eero Built-in project, which is an eero’s patented technology that turns selected Echo products into eero mesh Wi-Fi extenders. It adds up to 1,000 sq. ft. of coverage to their existing eero network and support speeds up to 100 Mbps for 10 or fewer connected devices, in the 5 GHz band. To use this feature the customer needs a compatible Echo device and to link their Amazon accounts on the eero app. After that, they can choose to disable or enable specific Echo devices to extend the Wi-Fi.

Approach

I designed the end-to-end in-app experience that enables customers to turn their Echo devices into Wi-Fi extenders. This included onboarding education, feature activation, and custom error recovery flows. I partnered closely with the Alexa and FireTV teams to uncover technical limitations and device incompatibilities, translating them into proactive UI guidance and troubleshooting that supports users throughout setup.
